DESCRIPTION
It is an essential oil, slightly yellow in color, derived from the flowers of ylang ylang tree by water or steam distillation. Used in aromatherapy, it is valued for its perfume and has an exotic and sweet smell. Ylang ylang is a tall tropical tree grow about 20 meters having large, tender, fragrant pink, mauve or yellow flowers and is widely cultivated in Java, Sumatra and Madagascar.

CONSTITUENTS
Its main chemical components are linalool, caryophyllene, geranyl acetate, p-cresyl methyl ether, methyl benzoate, benzyl acetate, benzyl benzoate and other sesquiterpenes.
USES
The ylang-ylang essential oil has various therapeutic properties and used as an antidepressant, anti-seborrhoeic, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, hypotensive, nervine and sedative. It has sedative effects on the nervous system and useful for anxiety, tension, fear and panic.
